Pink Waves Poncho or blanket
I came up with this idea during the winter when I needed something warm to throw on whenever I felt chilly walking around the house. I thought “Something like an afghan that goes over my head, and long enough to cover my lap when I sit.”
So, I crocheted some short rows and came up with this poncho.
I dug out all the pinks from my stash and paired them with a dark grey. I tried to keep the yarns at a sport weight or lighter so that the poncho wouldn’t get too heavy. Some of the yarns I used were Mary Maxim Mellowspun, Bernat Satin, and the grey is Red Heart Supersaver in Charcoal which is the only #4 weight yarn I used.
Because I used up stash, I kept track of how many yards I used for one row then estimated how much it would take for the whole poncho: 1200 yards of yarn for the modules which I did in different shades of pink and 1700 yards of Red Heart Supersaver Charcoal for the rows between the modules.
This is a very easy pattern to do once you get the hang of going back and forth on the short rows. I would work on this while I watched TV.
The poncho length can be adjusted. Mine ended up being 44” long (112 cm), but stretched longer when I put it on, so if you want yours shorter, you can just omit a repeat or 2.
I also made a blanket using this pattern. The 2 bottom photos is the blanket made with stash yarn. Kitty Kat approved.
