Pippa's Chilly Days of Fall
Similar to Pippa’s Fair Isle Winter Sweater, this project is knit in the round with steeks. For this project, however, I have included a flat adaptation, so people who are too chicken to cut their knitting can still use it.
The design is for Götz Little Kidz, but can be made to fit other dolls of a similar size. Sleeve length will probably need to be adjusted. Other motifs can be substituted with a little creativity.
The sleeve chart is superimposed on the body chart. It’s is outlined in red in the center of the body chart. If you print the pattern in B&W, it might be helpful to outline the sleeve chart with colored pencil or cut it out when you’re ready to make the sleeves.
I used scraps of various types of Knit Picks Stroll Fingering (solid, tonal, hand-painted). Any fingering scraps can be used. A variety of fingering-weight yarns can be used for MC, but they should be consistently dark or light enough to show up against the CC, which also can be varied. This is a good way to use up scraps. Changing color in the center front leaves tails, but they will be cut off with the steek. Color changes in the sleeves can be knotted together tightly and then cut, so no weaving-in is needed. However, the whole project can be knit with two different yarns only, if you wish.
I knit loosely. If you wish to have your sweater fit the way Pippa’s fits, it’s good to swatch or check your work as you go along to make sure it won’t be too small (or too big) for your doll.
This is a good way to learn to make steeks. Here is a tutorial: https://zwergpudelfrau.blogspot.com/2017/05/doll-sweater-...
