Pippa's Winter Fair Isle
This is a great way to learn how to make a steeked pullover or cardigan without all the investment in time and money.
Yarn needed is 84 yds of solid sock yarn and 66 yds of self-striping or multicolored sock yarn, although many different colors may be used, keeping the darker colors and the lighter colors consistent. Notions needed: 5 size 7/18” buttons or 8mm beads.
The pattern was designed for Götz Little Kidz doll but may be made to fit another 14” doll with minor adjustments. It should fit a Wellie Wisher doll by making the sleeves shorter.
This project is worked in the round with two different colors and then steeked. If multiple colors are used, the ends are cut off with the steek, so no weaving-in is needed. Color changes at sleeve end-of-round can be simply knotted and trimmed.
If you use your darker color for the ribbing, the chart will be easier to follow. The prototype was knit with the darker one as MC2, which is the white squares, and the lighter yarn was the black squares. This will require more of the darker yarn, however. As an alternative, do not switch to MC2 after the ribbing and keep the lighter yarn with the white squares on the chart.
