This pattern is for Pippin the Pigeon. The pattern contains lots of photos to help you every step of the way. It is written in English, using American crochet terms. All of my patterns have been independently tested prior to publication.

You will need:
The body, legs, wings and tail feathers are all made with 2 strands of yarn. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I worked with 2 strands of stylecraft special dk weight yarn for this project (dk is equivalent to weight 3 / light worsted weight yarn) with a 4.5mm hook and my finished pigeon measures approximately 12.5cm tall and 15cm long.
The beak & feet sections are made with a single strand of the same weight yarn with a 3.5mm hook.

You will need the following colours / quantities:

  • Pink - for the feet, I used shade ‘raspberry’ (approx. 5.25m).
  • Purple - for the chest, I used shade ‘grape’ (approx. 10m).
  • Yellow - for the beak, I used shade ‘gold’ (approx. 1.5m).
  • Green - for the back of the neck, I used shade ‘teal’ (approx. 1.5m).
  • White - for the patches on the neck / edge of the wings (approx. 4.5m).
  • Light Grey - for the body / legs, I used shade ‘warm grey’ (approx. 44.5m).
  • Medium grey - for the wings / tail, I used shade ‘grey’ (approx. 29m).
  • Dark grey - for the head / darker feathers, I used shade ’graphite’ (approx. 30m).

Please note - The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide and are based on using dk weight yarn. The pattern refers to the colours that I used, however these can be substituted for colours of your choice.

You will also need:

  • Suitable sized hooks for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4.5mm hook when working with 2 strands of yarn and a 3.5mm hook when working with a single strand of yarn.
  • A pair of 10mm brown safety eyes.
  • Some toy stuffing.
  • Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and some stitch markers.

You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself.
Thank you
