Pip's Kitchen
The more elaborate of the two motifs in this afghan pattern was designed in response to a request from a fellow crocheter - a lady called Pip wrote to ask if I would consider creating a square to match the colourful tiles in her kitchen in Shropshire. Hence the name! It was a daunting idea at first but proved to be an irresistible challenge :). The result is a reasonable echo rather than an exact match, though I did manage to find four colours as close as possible to the colours in Pip’s tiles. Not a combination I would ever have thought of, but I think it works really well.
The pattern includes clear instructions for the original tile, a simpler complementary square and a matching border, all with detailed round-by-round photos to help you achieve a pleasing result. The border can be adapted to fit any size, configuration or joining method.
Thank you Pip!
And thank you too to my patient and perceptive pattern testers: Alice, Ellen and Lara. Couldn’t do it without you ladies!
