Pirate Play Set
Ahoy maties! This is the pattern for the full set all together. You’ll receive instructions for the ship and all its accessories, the pirate dolls and their octopus and parrot friends. There are lots of details … So much fun awaits the lucky recipient of this labor of love!
Patterns
These instructions contain the patterns to make the following:
• Ship: The ship is made with plastic canvas sandwiched between 2 layers of crochet. It is embellished with a mast, sail with Jolly Roger applique, flag and a mast holder. There’s also a spinnable ship’s wheel, portholes, bow sprit, gang plank, and an
interactive anchor and life preserver.
• Accessories: Cannon with cannonballs, barrels, treasure chest filled with crocheted coins (and other items as desired such
as sequins and beads).
• Pirates and Friends: Captain with tricorn hat, peg leg and eyepatch; First Mate with striped shirt and bandana; and a
Female Crewmember with skirt, corset and bandana. Instructions are also included for the adorable little Octopus and
Parrot.
Pattern Notes
The pattern is written for intermediate crocheters and beyond. This is an involved and, in some cases, highly detailed pattern. The crocheter should be familiar with making amigurumi and understand basic amigurumi crochet terminology and stitches, as well as how to sew pieces together, finish off, hide ends, change colors, etc. Familiarity with working with plastic canvas is also needed. If you are not familiar with all the terms used in this pattern, there are a multitude of tutorials on You Tube that can help. Also feel free to contact me with any questions. I’ll be glad to help in any way I can.
Size
Gauge is not important to this pattern. The size of your finished
products will vary depending on the size of the yarn and hooks you use. Made with the materials listed, the ship measures 4.5” wide by 9.5” long (11.5cm x 24cm) and the mast makes it about 10” tall (24.5cm). The pirate dolls are about 4” tall (10cm). Using thinner yarn and smaller hooks will yield smaller pieces. Using thicker yarn and larger hooks will result in larger pieces. An individual crocheter’s yarn tension can also be a factor in sizing as well.
