Pirinoa Poncho Aran weight
This is the aran weight (10 ply) version of the Pirinoa Poncho, pictured in grey. There is also a DK weight (8 ply) pattern version pictured in blue (see my store).
This child’s poncho has been designed to fit a child from age 18 months up to 4 years.
It is knitted from the bottom up in pieces, joined at the shoulder and the hood is knitted in one.
The design features relaxed cables that do not add a lot to bulk or weight of the finished product. The hood has been designed so that it does not easily slip off an active child’s head.
Instructions for two button fastenings have been added to the pattern.
The pattern comes with a chart for the cables but also contains written instructions for the same.
You will need two 80cm (24”) circular needles in the stated size(or to achieve gauge). You will also need a cable needle.
The yarn used has a meterage of 192m (209yd) to 100g. You need approximately 300g (3 skeins) to knit the poncho as shown.
The grey poncho shown is worn by a 3 yr old. The blue poncho is worn by a 2 yr old.
