Pitcher Plants Blanket
Pattern for Pitcher Plants (Nepenthes) blanket / tapestry. This pattern comes with both a graph and written directions.
All single stitch crochet using the tapestry crochet technique (carrying yarn)
You will need 8 skeins of Black yarn (A) (or background color), 4 skeins of Red yarn (B), 2 skein of pink yarn (C) (assuming you don’t carry the pink through the entire pattern), 5 skeins of green yarn (D) & 4 skeins of dark green yarn (E) to complete this pattern. This is assuming a medium weight yarn with skein lengths of about 350 yards/skein.
I recommend carrying the Black (A) (or background color), Red (B), Green (D) & Dark Green (E) through the entire pattern to keep it even. I would only carry the pink where needed. Alternatively you could carry A, D & E through the pattern and only use red (B) & pink (C) where needed.
I recommend a medium weight (worsted weight) yarn with a J sized hook. The tapestry should come out a little over 4 feet wide. A border can increase the size and give the project a more finished look.
It is all single stitch crochet. In order to make this blanket you will need to know how to carry yarn (there are great Youtube videos that can teach you how to do the Tapestry Crochet Technique. I highly recommend trying a small simple pattern to practice carrying yarn before attempting a larger project. Carrying yarn gets more difficult as you add more colors.
150 stiches wide by 161 rows tall
Once you have purchased this pattern a text document that like this (below) will automatically download to you. If you have any trouble receiving it message me and I will have it e-mailed to you in no time. This pattern also comes with a Graph!
1.) A-150
2.) A-30, B-20, A-10, B-50
3….
The #’s are for each row
The letters are for different colors. (A = Black (or background color), B = Red, C = Pink, D = Green, E = Dark Green)
(so the above pattern would have the first row be 150 stitches of color A. 2nd row would have 30 stitches of color A followed by 20 stitches of color B followed by 10 stitches of color A and so on….)
