Yarn Choices:
This piece is knit in Worsted weight yarn. Look for YARN that is primarily animal fiber (to match this yardage) and between 185 & 220 yds per 100g. They should match well; if using other yarns and not suggested yarns.
MANY yarns and weights will work, including stash and scraps. Each version varied a bit in size, as every yarn is different.
If changing yarn weight, you should adjust your needle size, gauge and yardage needed.

Information:

This is a relatively basic pattern, ‘uncommonly’ combining two well known techniques, the Linen Stitch & the Mitered Square. Linen Stitch is a common dense and lovely stitch pattern, and Mitered Squares are common for dish cloths and blankets. I have not seen these two techniques used together before.

For me, on my first project, each square took approximately 15g of yarn and 28 yards. (the average after completing 5, with the Spun Ware worsted).
The Squares were about 5” on each side when “yanked” a bit to square them up (before blocking). This yarn is amazing in the pattern, but I only had one
skein. It yielded a short scarf of about 44”. I ended the first scarf with a partial square so I would use the maximum amount of yarn. I love the quirky edge on this version.

Skills used in this pattern are – decreasing with a Center Double Decrease; slipping stitches for the linen stitch; making stitches with a knitted cast on; picking up and knitting along a knitted edge; & applied I-Cord Bind off (if adding an edge to your scarf).
