Pixelhatted
September 3, 2020: I have successfully converted this pattern to pdf, so the wayback machine version of the blog is no longer needed! You can download the pdf right here on Ravelry. It’s currently still free, as the pattern has still not been tested and is missing such things as gauge and a good range of photos.
February 11, 2020: This pattern is currently only available through wayback machine, as the initial website is currently not available. I will update this pattern with a pdf version as soon as possible.
This is a quick hat pattern, great for colorwork newbies, it incorporates just a little bit of switching between colors, with only 4 rows actually using both colors at the same time and floats (strands of yarn held behind the stitches that are of the other color) not longer than 2 stitches each.
It is freely available on my website and you're welcome to ask questions here or as comments on the website for now. (Although if questions become redundant I may ask that you do not.)
It’s offered for free and has not been test knit, so if there are errors, please alert me to them and I will check it out and fix if needed!
Colors: I highly recommend using a varigated color for the contrast color! It’s extremely fun! Using something that heavily contrasts or use one that has a similar color in it to the MC. It’s up to you!
You’ll need about 75 yards of the MC and 25 yards of the CC.
Sample shown in Gritty Knits Merinosaurus (MC) in the Trilobite Colorway and Malabrigo Rios (CC) in the Indiecita Colorway
This pattern is published differently than my other designs because it's written for the blog and not for a pdf and pay-for format. If you're hoping to see what my pdf patterns are like before buying them, check out the free pattern Aria's Hat as the pattern layout of that is formatted similarly to my pay-for patterns. I may turn this into a pdf option in the future, but it is not for now.
Errata: The pattern has been updated to reflect the following updates.
May 2017
-After the instructions for rounds 12-16, I had misnumbered the next round as 13, when it should have been round 17. Following rounds have been reflected to have the correct numbering sequence.
September 2020
-Rows 22 & 23 said to repeat rounds 14 and 13 (in that order) but this was incorrect, related to the previous errata’s mistake. Row 22 is repeat round 18, and Row 23 is repeat round 17.
-Additionally, in this update, the word “row” has been converted to say the word “round” in all areas applicable, because this is in the round knitting. This correction makes no real change to the construction or design, just the word structure used to describe the knitting (round for in the round knitting, row for flat knitting.)
