To make the hat you will need:

• 3 skeins of Paris Cotton (on the picture – dark wash #103) or any Aran cotton yarn (5mm knitting / 6mm crochet hook)
• crochet hook – 6mm / 4 UK / J-10 US, or any size hook which will result in stitch gauge: 4 x 4 inch (10 x 10 cm) => 13 sts x 15 rows
• 5 stitch markers (or safety pins/strings of yarn in different colour than the hat)
• scissors
• tapestry needle to weave in the ends (you can also use small crochet hook, for example 3 mm one)

Gauge: 10 cm x 10 cm / 4′ x 4′ = 13 sts x 15 rows (in single crochet)
The pattern is written in US standard terms.
