Made in a thick, bulky yarn, the hat is crocheted with a bumpy, textured edging that circles the face, two ties, and a little elf point on the back. It works up quickly – just a few hours.

I created the pattern to be done all in one piece - so the ties and edging are all added using the same piece of yarn, without having to cut and reattach. In addition, I wrote the pattern to stitch up the back of the hat with the crochet as you work, as opposed to having to sew it up separately once the hat is finished.

The hat shown is made in Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick. Lion Brand Hometown USA or any other bulky yarn will work - or several strands of a smaller yarn held together. Make a swatch first to test.
