PLAGUE DOCTOR
Recommended for intermediate crocheters.
Stitches used (US terminology):
• mr: magic ring
• ch: chain
• sl st: slip stitch
• sc: single crochet
• hdc: half double crochet
• inc: increase (two sc in same st)
• flo: front loop only
• blo: back loop only
• dec: decrease (For best results, use the invisible decrease: insert hook into the front loop of the first stitch, then insert the hook into the front loop of the next stitch. Yarn over, pull through two loops on the hook, yarn over, pull through two loops on the hook. Invisible decrease complete.)
Materials:
• 2.5mm hook if using sport weight yarn or 3mm hook if using DK weight yarn
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Stitch marker
• Black sport weight or DK weight yarn for the body and cape
• White sport weight or DK weight yarn for the mask, gloves, boots, and cross necklace
I recommend cotton, cotton blend, or stiff acrylic in order to better hold the amigurumi’s shape.
When working in the round, work in a continuous spiral, using a stitch marker so you do not lose your place. Stitch count is noted in parentheses at the end of each round.
