Not long ago my husband asked me to buy him some socks. I was shocked: BUY socks! What about all the nice socks I make? His answer was that I provide lots of special socks but that he needed some plain old socks. So here are some plain old socks, excellent for hardworking men. A crew length is given but the cuff may be knitted as long as you wish.
YARN, GAUGE AND MACHINE Jaggerspun 4/2/18 wool acrylic blend gets a gauge of 6.5 stitches/8 rows per inch. A ribber is needed for this design.
SIZES These are resting measurements before washing and likely to change when the socks are on feet. The sock will loft and shrink a bit after washing. finished length: 9.75, 10.9, 12, 13” finished circumference: 8, 9, 10,11” You can fine tune the pattern to get in between sizes by adding or subtracting a couple of stitches or rows. The smallest size is for women with small-medium feet of about size 6-8, the next fits larger women and smaller men about 9-11 for women and 7-9 for men, the third fits larger men up to about size 11, the largest size is for extra large feet about size 12-14
