Plait Sleeve Sweater
The Plait Sleeve Sweater features an oversize fit, balloon sleeves, turtleneck and a loose cable along the sleeves, all created using a top-down, seamless construction for easy finishing.
Knit with two strands of laceweight mohair yarn held double and suitable for intermediate level knitters. The construction is inspired by the Suzie Meyers Contiguous method and is similar to a top-down raglan except the increases are more frequent and are on the shoulders. You’ll work in one piece to the end of the shoulders, divide off and knit flat to the underarms, then rejoin to work in the round for the remainder of the project. The sleeves and neckline are both picked up and knit in the round.
Every technique in the pattern comes with a link to a quick and simple video tutorial to save you hunting around for help.
To give you an idea of ease and fit, the model wears the sweater with about 30 cm / 12” of positive ease.
The sample is made using Drops Kid-Silk Mohair (75% mohair, 25% silk; 210 m / 230 yds / 25g per ball) in colour light pink 03. Drops yarn isn’t freely available in NZ (so sad!), so I recommend purchasing via Etsy if you face a similar situation.
