A wonderfully warm pattern that can be knitted in several weights of yarn and customized to fit any person’s hands. A braided cable down the front of the gloves adds depth and texture.

This pattern is written in recipe style to accommodate a variety of handspun yarns, which vary greatly in weight and texture when knit. Commercial yarns can be used as well, with as much ease as the handspun.

Gloves shown in the picture here and pattern were knit with size 7 needles and a coopworth wool/tencel/alpaca blend n-plied handspun yarn measuring 11 wpi.

You MUST determine the stitch gauge in the yarn/needle you are using to successfully complete this pattern. Row gauge is not important for this pattern. Fabric should be firm but still flexible, so I recommend using a needle size that is the generally recommended size for the yarn weight, keeping in mind any modifications you usually make for your knitting tension.

Materials:
4 ounces handspun yarn: 11-15 wpi or commercially produced yarn heavy fingering weight to bulky (the smaller the weight of the yarn, the smaller the cable will be)

Tools:
stitch marker
stitch holder
cable needle
dpn or circular needles to get gauge
