This pattern is written as a plan for creating a vest using a percentage system. The vest is designed for knitting in the round, with dividing at the armholes for continuing to the shoulders. Steeking is suggested for fair-isle or stranded patterns. Short rows are done at the shoulders, and front and back are joined with 3-needle bindoff. Schematics are written for a variety of neckline choices.

Any weight yarn can be used, as the knitter’s individual gauge determines all of the stitch calculations. The needle size that is chosen must be determined by what works best with the yarn used. Swatching is essential.
