Plank & Groove Hat
This relaxed-fit hat is the textbook definition of versatile! It looks great on men and women, is sized to fit the sweetest new baby up to the biggest, grizzled mountain man head, and can be worn loose & slouchy, or turned up at the brim for a fitted look. The crown features a unique finish that requires no decreases at all. Your friends will wonder how it was done, and you’ll smile remembering how simple it was to finish off!
Available Sizes: 10.75” (12”, 13.25”, 14.75”, 16”) in circumference
and 6.5” (8.25”, 9.25”, 10”, 11”) tall
To fit: Infant (1-3 yrs, 3-12 yrs, Adult S/M, Adult M/L)
Hat is intended to be worn with 5-8” of negative ease - ribbed st pattern is VERY stretchy. (Hat pictured is a 14.75” size on a 22.5” head.)
Materials Needed:
• 100 (140, 170, 200, 240) yds DK-weight yarn (Sample shown was made from Anzula Cricket yarn in the “Cornflower” colorway. 80% Merino/ 10% Cashmere / 10% Nylon, 250 yds per 114g skein)
• US Size 4 / 3.5mm circular needle
• US Size 3 / 3mm circular needle
• One extra US Size 4 needle (dpn, straight, or circular)
• 1 traveling stitch marker
• yarn needle
Techniques Used:
• working in-the-round
• Knitting
• Purling
• Three-needle Bind-off (explained step by step)
• Instructions are both written and charted
