This is a Crafty Housewife Yarns Plarn Market Bag Mini Course, complete with the exclusive market bag pattern and tutorial videos!

You’ll wind up with an upcycled, stylish, reuseable market bag that will get all kind of compliments when you use it, whether that’s at the store, the beach (they make great beach toy totes!), or anywhere!

I generally use between 25-30 grocery-sized bags to make one large market bag with this pattern. Stretchier bags like newspaper bags tend to be harder (although not impossible) to work with – but ones like Walmart, Kroger, Food Lion, or Publix tend to work the best. I’ve used Publix, Home Depot, and Kroger bags to get that great, natural-looking brown; Wal-Mart ones for the gray; and Sheetz ones for the yellow and red.

Each grocery-sized bag yields ~8 yds of plarn (depending, of course, on how thick the plarn is made), making the project between ~200-240 yds of plarn. If following the video tutorial included with purchase, the plarn should be approximately worsted weight, but weight and gauge don’t particularly matter; this is a very flexible pattern.
