Pleasant Valley is part of the Memory Tree Collection, a collection of four patterns, three individual and an exclusive pattern - not available to purchase alone.

As a child of the sixties I was brought up on a mixture of Sixties ‘pop’ and the Big Band Music that my parents adored. I couldn’t choose between the Monkees and the Beatles or between Donny Osmond and David Cassidy – I loved them all and so many songs trigger special memories for me. What will you be humming and thinking of as you knit?

Pleasant Valley is a wide, asymmetric, triangular shawl knit in a mix of garter stitch and stocking stitch that give peaks and valleys to the main body that is bordered with a band of stocking stitch and a garter stitch edge. Very simple yet effective – one colour makes for great television or travel knitting and three colours makes for an interesting knit that is still not complicated in the slightest but has endless colour possibilities meaning that none of the Pleasant Valley’s need to be ‘all the same’.

Knit in double knitting/worsted weight, this is a lovely quick and warm project but with a change of needles there is no reason why a fingering weight yarn could not be used though more repeats and additional yardage would be required. You will need four skeins of double knitting yarn at 218m (or more), two skeins of colour A, one each of colours B and C for the size shown.

You will find it very useful to print this pattern using a colour printer as the colour changes have been colour coded on both the charts and the full written instructions.

If you like my designs please join us in the Boo Group where you will find a place to discuss my patterns, show off your knitting and hear about KALs and MKALs.
