Pleated Chevrons
Inspired by the Japanese technique of shibori pleating—a process used to create a textural pattern on woven fabrics by binding, stitching, and compression—Véronik Avery looked for ways to mimic the look through the use of knit and purl stitches as well as internal increases and decreases. The result is a fairly simple pattern that creates subtle “hinges” that extend from the cast-on at one end to the bind-off at the other and that can be expanded to any width. Worked in pure baby alpaca, this scarf features extraordinary drape and softness.
