PLEATED SUMMER too for slim 18” doll DRESS.

This pleated dress is a slimmed-down version of the original that I wrote for full bodied 18” dolls.
It has been re-designed to change the puffy sleeve to the fitted curved to the shoulder sleeve. This version of the dress is also a bit shorter which creates more of a “bell” silhouette in a lower body.

This pattern will create a dress to fit 18” doll with slim body. Some of such dolls are Kidz n Cats, Journey Girl and similar.
Chest measurement for the model in the photos is 8 1/2” around. The pattern can be used for any doll with this measurement regardless of its length, which can be adjusted by manipulating number of rows in the pattern.

By using the yarn listed here and achieving the listed gauge you will create a perfectly fitting dress.

It is important to use the yarn that is either all or mostly natural fiber as the pleated pattern tends to behave like a large scale ribbing and clings to the body if not blocked. So natural fiber in your yarn will allow you to either steam or even iron the finished garment thus shaping the skirt into a gorgeous A-line. If all synthetic yarn is all that you have to work with - be sure to wet block the garment before seaming the back.

The yarn used here is cotton blend sports weight yarn knitted on very small needle to achieve gauge, Fingering weight yarn is preferred. You will need about 60g / 135 yards of yarn. The dress is done without side seams.
