Plumage is a reversible scarf / shawl made out of short-rows in garter stitch. The scarf can be as long as you wish and can be knit with any yarn gauge. Each feather can be made with a different yarn (as long as it fits the chosen gauge) or you can make your own pattern. One feather requires approximately 10 yards of yarn so this scarf is the perfect stash buster!

Pattern ideas

• 4 feathers made with a self-striping or gradient yarn and 1 feather made with a solid yarn in a contrasting color (pictured)
• 3 feathers made with the main yarn and 1 feather made with another yarn, different each time
• The whole scarf made with a self-striping yarn except for the last feather and the top border made with a solid yarn in a contrasting color
• 5 feathers in 5 different yarns, repeated all over the scarf
• Each feather made with a different color, resulting in a gradient
• Or anything you can think of!

Plumage est un foulard réversible fait de rangs raccourcis. Ce foulard peut être aussi long que désiré et il peut être créé avec n’importe quelle grosseur de fil. Chaque plume peut être faite d’un fil différent (du moment qu’il respecte l’échantillon choisi) ou les coloris peuvent être déterminés préalablement. Une plume nécéssite environ 9 mètres de fil, faisant de ce foulard une idée parfaite pour enfin utiliser les restants de fils d’autres projets!

Les dimensions données en exemple sont celles de l’écharpe figurant sur les photos. Cette écharpe est composée de 55 plumes faites de fils pour chaussettes. Un écheveau de 100g de laine pour chaussettes ou deux écheveaux de 100g de fil de grosseur “worsted” sont suffisants pour créer une écharpe d’une bonne grandeur.
