Another fun and easy stashbuster for using sock yarns!

The yarn I used is meant to enable you to knit an identical pair of socks but seeing as I am not a sock knitter and love wearing cowls I decided to play with it for something new and different but still simple.

You can easily substitute with something from your stash and by combining more than one colour or working with mini skeins you can create your own changes of colour for unique stripes.

I wanted to emphasise the self striping and/or the Ombre effect with chevrons to give it a little drama but not too much so the chevrons are only part of it and the rest is more calm to offset the activity of colour.

As always a name is then needed and as I watched it develop it reminded me of a feather effect so I decided to call it Plume.

Measurements: Before blocking: Neck opening is 24”/ 61 cm. From midpoint of neck opening to tip is 15”/ 38 cm and 3.5”/ 9 cm height at back of neck. Measurements are approximate.
Gauge: Before blocking: 26 stitches x 46 rows in garter stitch = 4”/ 10 cm. Gauge is not critical but can affect finished size and yardage. Drape is more important in this design than gauge. I found my
gauge to be a little different in each sample so have given an average of the three.
