Plummy Mitts
The Plummy Mitts are a perfect match for SpaceCadet’s Lyra yarn, a round, bouncy sportweight that cables like a dream. The mitts knits up quickly using less than one skein, and the cablework will keep you entertained from beginning to end. Three sizes are provided for optimal fit, and the cables are mirrored on the backs and palms of both mitts, making them interchangeable. Pair them with the Plummy Cowl for a matching set!
This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions.
Recommended Yarn:

Sizing:
All sizes are 8.75” (22 cm) in total length. Tips are given for making 6.75” (17 cm) long mitts, as well as adding length at fingers.
Small — 6.25” in circumference, to fit 7” palm — takes approx. 180 yds (165 m).
Medium — 6.75” in circumference, to fit 7.5” palm — takes approx. 190 yds (174 m).
Large — 7” in circumference, to fit 8” palm — takes approx. 200 yds (183 m).
Gauge:
32 sts and 36 rows in cable pattern, knit in the round and blocked — 24 sts and 32 rows to 4” (10 cm) in stockinette st, knit in the round and blocked.
PLEASE NOTE: The cabled fabric pulls in the stitch gauge significantly. Changes in gauge will affect finished size, look of motifs, and amount of yarn used. To meet these dimensions, be sure to use needle size that gives gauge.
Needles:
Size US 4 (3.5 mm) needles, for preferred method of working in the round, and size US 2.5 needle (3 mm) for bind-off only. (Sample mitts were knit on two circular needles, with DPNs used for thumbs.)
Other Materials:
One stitch marker (optional), cable needle in appropriate size, tapestry needle.
Pattern has been test knit and professionally tech edited.
