Make a doll house family, or a little doll your little one can take with them. Feeling a bit anxious? Calm yourself with your pocket-sized doll. They are super soft, cute and easy to make. A quick knit that brings joy.
This is a pattern for a family of pocket dolls, from 13cm/5,12in to 6cm/2,36in. These friends are knitted in the round, starting with the feet. The legs and arms are i-cords.
When the arms are attached the doll is felted. Don’t worry if you never felted anything before, it’s super easy. There are so many good felting instructions online, I’ll only give a short description. When the first felting round is done it comes to choice. If you want your pocket doll to have eyes, this is a good time to make them. Then it’s time to make hair, but only if you make hair that can be felted, otherwise the hair should be made after you’re done felting. If you made a hat, you attach strings of yarn on the inside and sew the hat onto the head.
After felting, sew on the hair (if you haven’t already) then your pocket doll is done.
For this project you’ll need:

  • Wool that can be felted (I used Drops Snow)
  • Dubble pointed knitting needles size 6mm/US10
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Hot water
  • Detergent/soap
  • Kitchen gloves
  • Wool or scrap yarn for stuffing
