Take these adorable Pocket Pals with you on your adventures and add some fun to a keychain, backpack or handbag. With this knitting pattern you can knit a set of five animal characters: Rabbit, Cat, Bear, Panda and Dog. Each is quick to knit and would make a lovely gift.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, each animal is knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round), although a few pieces are i-cord which is a knitted tube worked on two DPNs. The cat and dog collars are single crochet chains, or you can use a length of ribbon or yarn instead.

NEEDLES
A pair of 3.5mm straight single pointed knitting needles (US 4)
A pair of 3.5mm DPNs (US 4)

RECOMMENDED YARN
Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; one 100g/280m skein in each colour

NOTIONS
A darning or tapestry needle for seaming
A 3.5mm crochet hook
Toy filling
Beads for eyes
Split ring keychains if making as keyring charms

SIZES
One size only - each animal is approximately 9.5 cm tall (not including the ears).

TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
