Poffertjes Dishcloth is the May 2024 pattern for the Year of Dishcloths.

As a Dutch girl, I had a hard time deciding which treat to choose as the inspiration for this month’s pattern. Poffertjes are puffy little pancakes that are cooked in a special pan and are usually served with powdered sugar. Unlike pancakes, they are made with yeast, so take a little longer to make, but they are well worth it! They’re best made in a special poffertjes pan, but otherwise you can cook them on a griddle.

This month’s dishcloth is fun, quick to knit up, and features a pretty eyelet design. I found it very potato-chippy and knit mine in almost just one sitting! As always, you’ll need approx. 50 g of worsted weight cotton yarn to knit your dishcloth. I chose this bright magenta pink yarn, one of new Estelle Sudz colours for this year!
