The Poinsettia Collar is a super easy knit, com-ing here in a version for babies and one for kids (from toddler upwards).
It is knit bottom up flat in garter stitch, with double decreases used to shape the star form. Once the star is built up, you knit a few rows in stockinette stitch to form a slightly curling neck edge.
Finally, a button and a little loop are added separately to close the collar at the front for the kid’s version. The baby version is closed with ties.

Junior (red sample)

Size: One size (neck circumference: 29 cm/11.5 in)
Yarn & Materials: This is a great knit to use up some scrap yarn, as you need less than one skein of worsted weight merino. Make sure to weigh your leftovers, though, to avoid running out before you finish: 1 skein (approx.. 13 g) De Rerum Natura ‘Gilliat’ in the shade ‘pavot’– or any other worsted weight merino yarn meeting gauge, e.g. Lamana ‘Como Grande’ – and 1 button
Needles & Notions: 4.5 mm/US 7 circular needle (80 cm/32 in), 6 markers (the ones that you can open), tapestry needle, crochet hook
Gauge (after blocking): 15 sts = 10 cm (4 in) in garter stitch (but perfect gauge is not important in this pattern)

Baby (green sample)

Needles & Notions: 3.75 mm/US 5 circular needle (80 cm/32 in), 6 markers (the ones that you can open), tapestry needle, crochet hook
