Pointy Penguin Teacosy
We bought a clay ‘Pointy Penguin’ on a holiday in France- and fell in love with the shape and the shrugging shoulders look. Last year he adorned out handmade xmas cards and bunting and this year he made an appearance as a winter teacosy.
My teapot is about 7 inches high and about 21inches in circumference so my finished teacosy is about 25cm wide by 18 cm high. Instructions are included for how to make the teacosy TALLER or WIDER if you need to. he is knit flat using stocking stitch (knit a row, purl a row).
Remember that teacosies do need to be washed- so select yarn that will stand up to this. I knitted the body and wings using 2 balls of double knitting (USA Light Worsted) yarn, one black and one white using both together to give thicker yarn and a mottled grey effect. If you prefer you could use a single strand of a chunky (USA bulky) yarn instead of the 2 strands of double knitting yarn. You also need some yarn in white, black and yellow for the stomach and features.
