The Polar Opposite Mittens feature a contemporary colorwork pattern and will keep your hands warm in cold winters thanks to the combination of stranded colorwork and the Icelandic Léttlopi wool.

Construction
The mitten is cast on at the wrist. Stitches are increased for the thumb gusset, and when the thumb gusset is big enough the stitches are put on a stitch holder. Then the hand part and the thumb part of the mitten are knit separately.

S-M (L-XL)

Measurements
The sizes are made to fit the following hand measurements:
Hand length: 16 (19,5) cm or 6,5 (7,5) inches
Hand circumference: 19 (21) cm or 7,5 (8) inches

Needles
4mm double pointed needles (15 or 20 cm)
3.5mm double pointed needles (15 or 20 cm)

Gauge
The gauge in the checkered pattern is 20 st x 22 rows per 10 cm on 4 mm needles.

Materials
The yarn used for the mittens is Ístex Léttlopi. The colors used for the sample are 0059 (black) and 0051 (white).
For the mittens you will need 50 (100) g of color 1 and 50 (50) g of color 2.
