Pole Pole means “slowly, slowly” in Swahili and is something you often hear when visiting East Africa. Sometimes we surely need to be reminded not to always hurry, or to be on the go all the time. It is enough to just be, here and now.
The pattern to Pole Pole Socks is inspired by textiles from the island Mafia outside the Tanzanian coast. I hope that you, when you knit these socks can do it pole pole and enjoy knitting.

Gauge and sizes
34 sts and 40 rnds = 10x10 cm after blocking, fits a medium sized foot, leg circumference 20.5 cm/8”, and foot circumference 19.5 cm/7,75”. The length of the sock is adjustable. Gauge was obtained on 2.25-2.75 US 1 – US 2

Main colour approximately 60-65 grams/250-275 metres/275-300yards Contrast colour approximately 18- 20grams/75-85metres/85-95yards

Needles and Notions
Needles to obtain gauge in stranded knitting. Needle size 2.50 mm/US 2 was used on sample.
Needles, one size smaller than gauge. Needle size 2.25mm/US 1 was used on sample.

Pole Pole betyder ungefär “långsamt, långsamt” på swahili och är något man ofta hör när man besöker Östafrika. Och visst är det så att vi ibland behöver bli påminda om att inte alltid ha så bråttom eller hela tiden vara på väg. Ibland är det gott nog att bara vara, här och nu.

34 maskor och 40 varv = 10x10 cm efter blockning, ger en socka i stl M med omkrets 20.5 i skaft och 19.5 i fot.
