Create a beautiful, cozy polka dot granny square baby blanket that’s perfect for gifting or keeping for your own little one. A traditional crochet granny square becomes a polka dot square with a simple 3-round flat circle at the center. That cute little polka dot circle adds some fun and whimsy to any baby blanket. The blanket is finished off with a simple shell border.
Made with DK weight yarn, the Polka Dot Dreams baby blanket is lightweight with loads of comfy drape. Use acrylic yarn for a blanket that will last through the years and keep your little one cozy in any season.
Yarn: Stylecraft “Special DK” 100% acrylic in a main color (3-4 skeins) and 6 contrasting polka dot colors. Or, use any lightweight DK yarn in any color combination you wish.
Hook: US size G-6 (4mm) - the smaller hook gives the granny squares firmer stitches while remaining a lightweight drape.
Stitches used: Chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet
Techniques used: Flat circle in a continuous spiral, granny square
Skill level: Confident/Advanced beginner
