POLKETT
Polkett is a beautiful blanket with a geometrical leaf ­pattern. In the first two parts it is knit from the short sides in towards the middle. In the last two parts you knit outwards towards the edge to close the ­rectangle/square. The blanket is easy to adapt sizewise by knitting more repeats of some charts, depending on if you want it longer, higher or more square.

A polkett is a traditional Swedish folk dance, similar to but lighter and bouncier than a polka. Often accompanied by violins, it is quite lively and includes a lot of spinning around.

GENERAL
Polkett is a blanket pattern that allows you to decide for yourself which size you want to make. On page 4 is a size chart, so start by deciding what size you want. It works ­excellent for both a baby blanket or a larger throw or any size you like.

SIZE
Approximately 76 x 97 cm/30” x 38” in sample blanket. Adapt the size to your desire.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
2 separate 3.5 mm/US4/UK9.5 circular needles 80 cm/32”.

3 stitch markers. Stitch cords/holders or scrap yarn to hold stitches.

YARN
Östergötlands ullspinneri, 3 skeins (300g) Visjö white, 1 skein (100g) Ljus ­karamell, 300m (328yds)/100g.

The yarn requirements are for a s­troller blanket of around 76 x 97 cm/30” x 38”. ­Other sizes will require different amounts of yarn.
