This pattern is worked back and forth in garter stitch. Somewhat freeform, you can find in this pattern the guidelines to make the scarf as pictured. As such, I didn’t think it appropriate to set a gauge because it honestly doesn’t matter.

Just use needles appropriate sized for your yarn: 8/9 for worsted or aran, 13 for super bulky, 6 for DK and so forth. Adjust your width and stitches per row as you please, but keep an eye on your yardage!
