When I saw the colors McMullin Fiber Co. dyed for our collaboration I immediately thought of a garden. Just before sitting down and starting sketching ideas for this new pattern, I was having a conversation about gardens being friendly to pollinators.

I drew all my inspiration from the idea of having a pollinator friendly garden, hence the name of this cowl. My kids love buying bee and butterfly friendly flowers, plus they are always full of different colors and bring such a good aesthetic to planters or gardens.

The cowl has a lovely two color brioche border and then a very simple color work pattern that allows you to mix your chosen colors and creates an interesting visual and texture.

Materials
3.5 mm (4US) needles with a 35cm (14”) cable
3.75 mm (5US) needles with a 35cm (14”) cable
4mm (6US) needles for bind off
Stitch marker to mark beginning of row
6 Squishy Minis yarn set by McMullin Fiber Co. (80% Super Wash Merino / 20% Nylon fingering yarn weight - 540 yards / 150g in total)
Yardage/weight per skein approx. 90 yards/ 25g.

Measured over color work pattern knit in the round, after blocking 24 sts and 33 rows / 4’ (10cm)
Cowl measurements:
17“ (43.5cm) tall by 21” (33cm) in diameter.

Note – You can go up a needle size on the color work pattern if you feel it is too tight. There should be enough yarn for it.*
