This story scarf is inspired by C.S. Lewis’s classic tale ‘The Magician’s Nephew’. This is the story that began the Narnia Chronicles, and whilst less known than ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, for me, it is just as good.

The cowl is made up of a variety of different stitch patterns that explore different knitting techniques. Each is bite-sized to keep it interesting, mimic the flow of the narrative and to reflect the different motifs of this well-loved classic. I strongly encourage you to read the novel to your children as you knit this cowl.

Initially designed exclusively for Red Riding Hood Yarns Winter Yarn Club 2015, it is now publicly available.

Construction:
The cowl begins with a provisional cast on and is knit seamlessly as a long tube. It is kitchener stitched together to form a tubular loop.

Treat this project as a bit of a sampler knit, if there are techniques you don’t enjoy or aren’t comfortable with, simply omit them or knit for a shorter length in that section. Similarly, if you really enjoy an aspect of one section, feel free to knit it for longer.

Instructions are both charted and written.
