Pattern for a Polyphemus Moth Blanket. (Mine came out 4’ 1” wide by 2’ 8” tall, but this will vary based on how tight your stitching is and the type of yarn you use. This pattern can be repeated and sewn together or it can be combined with other patterns that are 150 stitches wide. ---Most of my patterns are 150 stitches wide--- You can also add a border to increase the size of the blanket.

This pattern can be made with the type of yarn of your choice. I crocheted the example with Loops & Threads Impeccable yarn (which is a medium weight yarn) and used a crochet hook size J (6.00MM). I used 2 1/2 skeins of black, 1 1/2 skeins of tan yarn, 1 skein of brown yarn exactly (so I would recommend getting two just in case so you don’t have to make 2 trips if you’re using the same yarn), and less than a skein of the white blue and yellow. I carried the black tan and brown through the whole blanket but only carried the white blue and yellow when I needed it. Normally I crochet with skeins than come in 364 yards/skein, this yarn was a smaller skein of 285 yards/skein.
It is 150 stitches wide x 78 rows tall.

It is all single stitch crochet. In order to make this blanket you will need to know how to carry yarn (there are great youtube videos that can teach you how to do the Tapestry Crochet Technique. I highly recommend trying a small simple pattern to practice carrying yarn before attempting a larger project. Carrying yarn gets more difficult as you add more colors.

Once you have purchased this pattern a text document that like this (below) will automatically download to you. If you have any trouble receiving it message me and I will have it e-mailed to you in no time. This pattern also comes with a Graph!

1.) A-150
2.) A-30, B-20, A-10, B-50
3….

The #’s are for each row
The letters are for different colors. (A = Black, B = Tan, C = Brown, D = White, E = Blue, F = Yellow )
(so the above pattern would have the first row be 150 stitches of color A. 2nd row would have 30 stitches of color A followed by 20 stitches of color B followed by 10 stitches of color A and so on….)

I make custom patterns as well. If you are interested in a pattern that does not exist message me and we can talk about having one custom designed for you.
