Now this is the sweater you’ve been waiting for! Go ahead and put together a gorgeous fade with yarn you have or buy that fade kit you’ve been coveting.

The body is very easy to work, worked mainly in Stockinette stitch with simple short-row shaping. Then the fun begins! Lace is picked up and worked in the round at the inside of the hem to create an eye-catching detail. The sleeves have corresponding lace panels with i-cords to keep the sleeve out of the way when you’re done being picturesque.

Sizes: Extra small (small, medium, large) (extra large, 2x large, 3x large) (4x large, 5x large, 6x large) to fit up to a 30” (34”, 38”, 42”) (46”, 50”, 54”) (58”, 62”, 66”)/75 (85, 95, 105) (115, 125, 135) (147, 157, 167) cm bust, with 1”/2.5 cm of positive ease. If you like your sweater to be snug, bump down one size.

Yarn: 1000 (1100, 1250, 1400) (1600, 1800, 2000) (2250, 2500, 2750) yards/920 (1000, 1150, 1300) (1500, 1700, 1825) (3625, 4025, 4425) meters of sock weight yarn total, roughly 375 (400, 425, 450) (475, 550, 600) (675, 750, 825) yards/350 (375, 400, 425) (450, 500, 550) (625, 700, 750) meters in lace contrast color (shown in cream). Please note that this is an estimate only; it is always advisable to be able to get your hands on more if you run out.

Needles: Size US 4/3.5 mm circular and double-point needles, US 5/3.75 mm circular, and size US 7/4.5 mm circular needle with a long (40”/100 cm) cable, or size needed to obtain gauge, plus one size smaller, and 2 sizes larger.

Gauge: 20 stitches and 32 rows = 4”/10 cm blocked in Stockinette stitch on size US 5 needles.

Notions: 22 - 34 stitch markers, waste yarn or spare circular needles, 2 buttons (1 – 2.5 cm diameter), blocking mat, blocking wires (optional, but very helpful), and t-pins.

Techniques: Knitting in the round, basic increases and decreases, wrap & turn (short rows), picking up stitches, basic lace techniques, reading a chart (optional), and i-cord.
