Pomegranate is a unisex lace hat. The name originates from ancient times. The name pomegranate derives from medieval Latin pōmum “apple” and grānātum “seeded”. It may be shaped into a regular hat, a slouch or a Tam. It all depends on how you block it. It has a lot of versatility, for many shapes and head sizes.

I hope that you will discover your favorite style, then make one for you and one for a friend.

You can increase the stitches by a count of 18 (for each additional chart repeat) if you wish to widen the hat for a tam or a more slouchy hat. You will increase the pattern in the first round of the Chart, which is plain knit stitch, as to be evenly distributed on your circular needle or double pointed needles. I personally find the long tail cast on very stretchy, but feel at ease using your preferred way of casting on stitches.

If you substitute the yarn, make sure you make a gauge swatch. I am a loose knitter, take that into consideration. The hat shown in this Pattern is a size Medium , 126 stitches, at about 50 grams of the skein, I can make another one for charity or for a friend.

This is a hat with texture and some great lace that will entice men and women. You can block it as a Tam with the help of a dinner plate. Thanks to my friend Naomi for her help proof -reading and choosing pictures. Thanks to my Photographer Michael T. Heylin
