Here are 10 patterns for hats resembling various fruits and vegetables. A brief background to the idea: The kids said something about wearing an apple on their head after watching Robin Hood. Thus this entire concept came from a preschooler who watched too much tv and turned it into a game of who knew the most fruit and vegetables. Here are some of the ones they’ve came up with… plus a pomegranate just for fun.

All fruit are classed as easy and suitable for confident beginners except Pineapple. Pomegranate requires knitting in the round, changing colours, yo increases and k2tog decreases to shape crown.
You will also need to sew two rows together OR pick up and k2tog from a previous row to form picot edges at brim and top of crown.
Folding picots is fiddly but not difficult.
