This last design of the year is dedicated to a dear Ravelry friend, yarnymama. She has requested a classic boys sweater - and here it is:) As useful for boys as for girls.

Design*
This easy-going sweater for everyday wear is designed using 3 different stitch-patterns to give it that little extra. Great to look at, and so fun to knit! Cable-pattern, twisted st and moss-st for the lower front, a knit and purl-st pattern for the upper front and upper back.
Lower back and sleeves are worked in stockinette. Hems, cuff and neckline are worked in rib-pattern. The right shoulder is closed by buttons, which makes the sweater super-easy to pop in and out of.**

Construction
The sweater is worked in a seamless construction.
Lower body is worked in the round to underarms. Upper front and back are worked in separate pieces back-and-forth.
The left shoulder is bound off from WS using the 3-needle bind-off method. The right shoulder is worked with button-bands integrated in the knitting.
The sleeves are worked top-down and in the round.
The sleeve-cap is created by easy short-rows.
The neckline is worked from picked-up and live sts.

Size 1: 0 - 3months/ Size 2: 6- 12months / Size 3: 18months – 2 years / Size 4: 2 – 4 yrs / Size 5: 5 – 6 yrs / Size 6: 7 – 8 yrs / Size 7: 9 – 10 yrs Finished chest measurement: 42.5/49/56/62.5/69/75/82.5 cm = 16.75/19.5/22/24.5/27/29.5/32.5”

Materials
Yarn: I used Arbor from Brooklyn Tweed to work the cardigan. This yarn of DK weight comes in balls of 50gr/1.76oz and 133meters/145yards. You will need 2/3/3/4/5/7/8 balls of this specific yarn to work the cardigan. You might substitute for any DK weight yarn that knits up to gauge. Needles: I recommend that you use circular needles, 40/40/40/60/60/60/80 cm = 16/16/16/24/24/24/32” long, to work the lower body. You will need a circular needle 3.5 mm/US4 to work the hem of the lower body. You will need a circular needle 4 mm/US6 to work the lower body. You can use the same needle for working the upper body (or using straight needles, if preferred). For the sleeves you need a set of dpns, 4 mm/US6, for the cuffs you need a set of dpns, 3.5 mm/US4. Circular needles might be used, if working the magic loop.

Gauge
24 sts and 32 - 34 rounds/rows = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”

The pattern
The moss-st and the cables are charted as well as written out round-by-round.
The stitch-pattern of the upper body is written out row-by-row.
There is a schematic.
All measurements are given in cm’s as well as in inches.
All necessary stitch-counts are given.

Knitting skills
