This pattern came about because of an excess of long eyelash type yarn and not wanting to make a pom pom, yet have the look of a pom pom. My first memory of pom poms is in the 70’s ski beanie patterns. Hence the name.

You will need basic knitting in the round skills for this beanie. If you wish you can just make a normal rib band. I enjoyed doing a double band this way though.

Read through the pattern instructions first. Then find your size and reading across the row, cast on the number in that column. Then rib for the amount of rows in your chosen size row. Then knit in the round for the required rounds for your size before halving the amount of stitches when you switch to sruffy yarn. Dont forgret to knit back in the other direction, unless of course you are that one person who doesn’t mind purling, in which case, just continue on and purl. The reason for this is that the purl side is much fluffier and you want that on the outside.

Have fun!
