Poncho
by Debbie Bliss
To introduce you to cables for the first time, I have placed them on a garment with no shaping so that you can concentrate on the technique. Two strips sewn together form the poncho, which is an ideal garment to slip easily over a baby’s or a child’s head, and on a really chilly day is roomy enough to add warmth over a coat. The four-stitch cable is easier than it looks—you are just holding two stitches while you are knitting another two.
