The ponderosa pine is a large coniferous tree, occurring in Canada only in the southern interior of British Columbia. Mature trees are easily recognizable by their distinctive orange - red bark. For years, the aromatic lumber was commonly used for crates & boxes for fruit from the Okanagan Valley.
The pinecone stitch pattern on this cowl is fun to work & easy to memorize. We found that the pattern shows best in a solid colour, or less variegated, yarn. This versatile accessory can be worn around the neck as a cozy, bulky cowl, or pulled down over the shoulders as a shoulder cozy / capelet.
The pattern is written for four sizes:
S (M, L, XL)
28” circ. x 16” height (38” circ. x 16.5” height, 43” circ. x 16.5” height, 48” circ. x 17” height)
yarn requirements:
approx. 150 - 300g (350 - 700yd) colour 1, & 100 - 200g (230 - 465yd) colour 2 of DK / light worsted weight yarn
