Hats can be inconvenient if you want to wear your hair in a ponytail. Especially when out for a nice winter run. The ponyhat gives you a fashionable way to free your low ponytail while keeping your head warm.

For the cuff to lay flat, the pattern uses a double knit cast on, although the hat is not double knit. After the cast on, the cuff is worked on the larger needles and bound off. Then the body of the hat is worked on slightly smaller needles. The back of the hat features an opening to allow a ponytail to slip out.
