This is an easy pattern appropriate for a beginner. It uses readily available cotton yarn. I use Lily Sugar n Cream but any worsted weight cotton will work.

The hat can be worn as a summer sun hat or to keep warm on a crisp summer day. The hat has a brim to keep your eyes shaded and an opening in the back for your ponytail or braid.
