Pooper Shrug
This is a basic “Pooper Shrug” pattern. It can be worked as simply as it is written (flat, sideways) or as complicated as your imagination and skill permit. This pattern lends itself well to stitch substitutions (dc, popcorn, etc. for the hdc or sc), and stitch pattern replacements (zig zag, cable, weaves, meshes, in lieu of a single stitch motif). The options are limitless.
If you choose to work the cuffs in the round rather than flat as the schematic indicates, join the first row of cuff stitches and complete enough rows to reach the armhole opening. At that point, stop joining and begin working alternately back and forth, making increases and decreases where shown to complete the body. After the last row, where the armhole meets the second cuff, you may rejoin and work the other cuff in the round as well.
If you choose to work the pattern lengthwise as a flat piece, you should stitch the cuffs together before applying any finishing trim (otherwise the trim may get in the way of the armhole).
Trim is optional, but I usually put some on because it enhances the look and lay of the collar portion and gives the cuffs a more finished appearance.
