Popcorn Love
I love the look of a knitted bobble stitch (also known as popcorn stitch), so I had to create a car seat blanket featuring this stitch. Those bobbles are great to keep little hands busy without the risk of the bobbles becoming detached.
This pattern is presented as a downloadable 7-page pdf with charts, written instructions and photos of various stages of the knit.
It is knitted in two pieces - top down bottom part and then pleated border, which is sewn on afterwards.
Blanket measures approx 55x65cm after blocking, and calls for DK yarn. I used about 480m for each of my prototypes. The yarns I used can be substituted, please go by the total yardage, rather than weight, as it can differ greatly from one manufacturer to another.
Gauge is not crucial, whatever you used to get when working DK - I knitted these blankets with 4 mm needles, and after blocking my gauge measured 20sts x 28 rows in 10cm square across the stockinette.
As always with all my patterns, it is for personal use only, meaning you cannot resell the pattern nor the blankets made using it.
I offer support on all my designs and invite you to get in touch via the email provided. Whether it is to ask a question, share your feedback or finished project I would like to hear from you.
Big thanks to Val Dawes and Sofia Almeida Mendes for testing this pattern for me.
