Poppy Fingerless Mitts
Poppy was inspired by the memorial built on Princes Street in Edinburgh by ‘Poppy Scotland’. There is a field of poppies right out in front of the Smith Memorial in which people who have (loved ones who have) served in the Armed Forces of Scotland can place a poppy they bought from the organization. I
Poppy Scotland believes that the Armed Forces community in Scotland deserves special support in recognition of the sacrifices made through their service. For more information and donations, visit www.poppyscotland.org.uk.
While I am not Scottish myself, or even British for that matter. I was still touched by this and do recognize the importance of aiding military people into civilian life, if need be.
The memorial on Princes inspired me and thus this pattern came to be.

One size fits most. Pattern is a little adaptable by using a larger or a smaller needle.

MC 1 skein Ovis Etcetera Shetland DK in colorway ‘New Jeans’ or ‘Sage’
Dutch grown Shetland wool, DK weight, 100 grams, 240 meters/262 yards
CC 1 skein Skippy Yarn, 100% Icelandic wool handdyed in The Netherlands
50 grams, 100 meter/109 yards
Gauge
20 stitches x 25 rows for 10 x 10 cm or 4 x 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch in the round on larger needle, unblocked.
Needles
4 mm/US 6 circular needle or needle to obtain gauge
3.5 mm/US 4 circular needle or one size smaller than gauge needle
